Is a Confession Enough to Prove Harassment?

A fleeting moment in a commercial store turned into a harassment case when a woman filed a complaint with the public prosecution after the employee attempted to touch her and asked her to lift her face covering to see if she was his neighbor’s daughter, which she refused and quickly left.

During the investigation, the accused admitted to some of the allegations but later denied them in court, claiming coercion, raising a crucial question: Is a retracted confession enough to prove guilt?

The court ruled that a confession not supported by other evidence does not establish the crime, so it dismissed the case, while still imposing a mitigated discretionary punishment: one month in prison and fifty lashes.

Takeaway: Unacceptable behavior is punishable, but proof cannot be built on doubts.
